The Prayer of Faith

Streams in the Desert Daily Devotional, Charles Cowman, Christian Bible Devotions:

"The Shepherd does not ask of thee
Faith in thy faith, but only faith in Him;
And this He meant in saying, 'Come to me.'
In light or darkness seek to do His will,
And leave the. work of faith to Jesus still."

I found a striking point in this devotional this morning stated in two different fashions and yet they are exactly alike. Here's the second; "Faith, walking in the dark with God, only prays HIM to clasp its hand more closely. ~Phillips Brooks

The contrast is found earlier, most prayers for greater faith tend to really be statements of doubt that request greater sight. God cannot lie, Titus 1:2 and Jesus said, "But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe." ~John 6:36 And then again when talking to Thomas, "Jesus said to him, Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. ~John 20:29

We stand at the crossroads of belief and doubt many times throughout the day. The choice is always clear and right, however God knows this is a struggle. Let me say this, I believe that Belief and Faith are on the same side. One cannot be torn away from the other. To say we believe something and then not take action (Faith) is to be guilty of a lie. We give action or faith to what we believe everyday with regard to things spiritual and lessor things all day long.

Bridge the gap today and everyday, moment by moment and step by step. Sometimes you and I take steps that aren't very sure. We take them anyway and God is cheering us on. Our actions for God and His kingdom have eternal outcomes! Stand on HIS promises today!!!

Blessings & Peace
~Robert
